Over the past decade there has been quite a troubling trend in the arena of drug addiction and overdose. In a study that came out in 2013 from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, it’s shown that only 11% of the 22.7 million Americans who need drug or alcohol were able to take advantage of help. Another staggering number that came out of the study was that there are nearly 44,000 deaths a year in the U.S. alone, due to drug overdose. This number exceeds the number of deaths caused by car accidents or any type of other injury.
