Rehabilitation Centers in Sacramento CA Find Disorder in Men

The media likes to look at the face of an eating disorder as a young woman – frail and thin. But sometimes and usually the face of an eating disorder is not ridiculously skinny, young, or even a woman. Unfortunately eating disorders can’t be pinned down to one age group and sex, which can make it hard to find in people hiding the illness. One unrecognized group of people who face eating disorders are middle-aged men who don’t know how to receive help.

Not just for girls

Right now according to the National Eating Disorders Association there are about 30 million people in the U.S. with eating disorders. Did you know that 10 million of those are men? It’s hard because men aren’t always recognized as having an eating disorder. This is due to the way eating disorders on men aren’t as easily diagnosed as it is for women.
