Sacramento Detox Center Talks How Addiction and Suicide Connect

By some estimates, people who are in the grip of an addiction are as much as six time more likely to commit suicide. This is due, in large part, to the fact that people with substance abuse problems are very likely to experience depression, and depression is the number one risk factor for suicide. In addition, being under the influence of drugs or alcohol impairs a person’s judgement which can lead to them following through with an act that they wouldn’t commit while sober.
