Detox Program in Sacramento Touts the Benefits of “I’m not OK.”
“I’m OK.” “I’m fine.” “Everything’s good.” It seems that we’re programmed from a young age to give a response like that when asked how we’re doing. It’s so ingrained in us that it becomes second nature, even when we are far from OK — even when our lives are falling apart. At our detox program in Sacramento, we tell people that “I’m not OK” is a perfectly acceptable answer, and the only honest answer when you are hurting and in need of help.
The Benefits of Being Vulnerable
Not surprisingly, in our culture it takes great strength to open up about our vulnerabilities. But when we find a way to do it, we discover there are many benefits to being honest about our challenges.
